Updating your email address

The email address on your account is used for password resets, login verification, and important account notices, so it's worth keeping it current, especially if you're about to switch email providers or leave a job whose email you've been using.

• Open Settings and go to your account details.
• Enter your new email address where prompted.
• Confirm the change through the verification link sent to the new address.

Your email stays on the old address until that verification step is completed, which protects you from someone else redirecting your account if they briefly gain access to your settings. If you no longer have access to your old email at all and can't get into your account to make this change through the normal flow, use the account recovery options available on the login page instead — trying to update your email from inside an account you can't log into obviously won't work, so recovery is the right starting point in that situation.
