Changing your username

Article 3 of 10 in Managing your account

Your username is the @handle people use to find, mention, and link to you — it's separate from your display name, which can be anything you want and doesn't have to be unique. If you've outgrown an old handle or just want something cleaner, changing it takes less than a minute.

  • Open Settings and find the username field under your account details.
  • Type in a new, available username. InteractInk checks availability as you type.
  • Save the change to confirm it.

Your profile link updates immediately to match your new handle, and anyone visiting your old profile URL will simply land on a "not found" page rather than being redirected. Past posts that mentioned your old username keep that text exactly as it was written, since posts aren't retroactively edited, but new mentions from other people will need your current handle to actually link to you and notify you. Once you move off a username, it becomes available for anyone else to claim, so if you think you might want it back later, it's worth thinking twice before giving it up.
