Trouble logging in

Getting stuck at the login screen is frustrating, but most cases come down to one of a handful of common causes. Here's what to check, roughly in order of how often each one turns out to be the culprit:

• Wrong password — use the Forgot password? link to reset it rather than guessing repeatedly.
• Wrong email or username — double-check for typos, extra spaces, or an old email address you've since replaced.
• Account locked or suspended — you'll see a message explaining why; if that's the case, see Appealing a suspension.
• Browser issues — clear your cache and cookies, or try a different browser, if the login page itself won't load or behaves strangely.
